Dear East Central Junior High School Parents and Students,
It’s hard to believe that we have just three and one half weeks left of this school year!
I want to congratulate Ms. Ahrend and her band students for a job well done! They received a superior rating from judges at the All District Junior High Band Contest on Thursday, April 5th at Clinton Middle School’s auditorium. In addition to our band students excelling, our vocal music students, under the direction of Kevin Pearson, also received a superior rating at the Tulsa Public Schools Choral Festival at Rogers High School. Way to go Mr. Pearson, Ms. Ahrend and all their students that participated! I also want to congratulate our volleyball coaches, Ms. Perez and Mr. Pool and the Junior Varsity Volleyball Squad on their season of 7 - 3 and Varsity 6 – 4. Both Varsity and Junior Varsity will compete for the City Championships on April 23rd and 24th. Way to go volleyball players!
If your son or daughter is interested in participating in any athletics next school year, the Tulsa Public Schools Athletic Department will be offering physicals for only $5.00. Checks are to be made payable to TPS Athletics. Please take advantage of this inexpensive opportunity and have your child’s athletic responsibilities completed for the 2012-2013 school year. The dates will be May 1st – Hale, May 8th – Memorial, May 10th – Edison, May 14th – McLain, May 15th – Booker T. Washington, May 16th – Central, and May 17th – East Central. All physicals will be from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. On May 7th Webster will hold physicals from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Rogers will hold physicals from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
A parent or guardian must accompany your child. The dates and times are also posted on the Tulsa Public Schools website under Athletic Department.
Six years ago during April of 2006, the T.P.S. Board of Education unanimously passed the T.P.S. Middle School Uniform Policy for the 2006 –2007 school year. We believe this has been a very positive change for our school the last six years. We will be continuing the T.P.S. School Uniform Policy for the 2012-2013 school year. There will be no changes with our Uniform Policy for next school year. The display case across from our main office has the uniform options for you and your child to view. At the end of the school year, we will send home the updated uniform polity with report cards to parents of our 7th graders.
In closing, I want to thank our wonderful adopter, the University of Phoenix, for all they have done for us this school year. Their help with our Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance Ice Cream Social, Student of the Month, and providing monitors for State Testing are all greatly appreciated. We are also thankful for our PTA members and volunteers for all they contributed this year. It has been a great year at East Central Junior High and we are looking forward to a wonderful 2012-2013 school year.
The month of May will be a very busy month. Please check the calendar for activities such as band and vocal concerts. Also, please make plans to attend your child’s grade level awards assembly. The students’ last day will be Friday, May 18th.
Final report cards will be mailed home this summer. I hope you have an awesome summer together with your child.
